Mariusz Godlewski - NOSPR

Mariusz GodlewskiBaritone

Baritone. He graduated from the Wrocław Academy of Music in prof. Bogdan Makal’s class. Mariusz Godlewski is a laureate of numerous Polish and international competitions, as well as recipient of the City of Wrocław Arts and Culture Scholarship for Young and Talented Citizens and a scholarship granted by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. It was also winning a scholarship that enabled him to spend 2001 and 2002 studying with prof. Leopold Spitzer in Vienna. In 2002, he made his Warsaw National Opera debut as Pelléas in Debussy’s opera Pelléas et Mélisande. He is invited to sing on numerous operatic stages, both in Poland and abroad, including Bern (Switzerland), Graz (Austria), Chicago (USA), Karlsruhe, Bonn (Germany).

In 2011, he sang the world premiere of Penderecki’s songs A sea of dreams did breathe on me... at the National Opera in Warsaw. Invited by Valery Gergiev, he performed under his baton at the White Nights Festival in Petersburg. In 2013, he sang at the Beijing Music Festival conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki. In 2014, he won the Jan Kiepura Theatre Music Award in the Best Male Singer category for the part of Scarpia in G. Puccini’s Tosca and the part of  Zurga in G. Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles. In 2015, he was nominated for the Radio Wrocław cultural division’s award for his world-class performance as Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. From 2019 to 2022, accompanied by the pianist Radosław Kurek, he recorded three albums with S. Moniuszko’s songs, commissioned by the Fryderyk Chopin Institute.
He has also recorded an album of songs by F. Chopin with Radosław Kurek, Olga Pasiecznik and Kevin Kenner.

In 2022, he received the 1st-class Cyprian Kamil Norwid Mazowieckie Voivodeship Award for recording the second volume of Moniuszko’s songs and the role of Podczaszyc in a recording of “Hrabina”.

In addition to the above, Mariusz Godlewski’s discography includes the parts of Zbigniew in “Haunted Manor”, Jakub in “Flis”, Henryk Volsey in “Beata”, and Janusz in “Halka”.

His repertoire encompasses numerous main operatic parts. Moreover, he performs songs by Schumann, Schubert and Brahms, as well as German and English baroque music.
