Shai Maestro fortepian Petros Klampanis kontrabas – piano
Philip Dizack – trumpet
Jorge Roeder – double bass
Ofri Nehemya – drums
Once the bedrock for the bassist Avishai Cohen’s trio, Shai Maestro has now been successfully developing his solo career for years. The success comes as no surprise – Maestro has all that is needed to render him one of the most brilliant continuators of ECM’s art of the jazz piano. His music is lyrical and delicate, but not overly sweet. While he adores collective improvisation, he does not forget about from melodic beauty. A true virtuoso, he does not need to prove his status by playing avalanches of sounds in every single piece. In the quartet version, accompanied by a trumpet, the Israeli pianist’s music is even more unpredictable and colourful.
