NOSPR / Wiegers / Duś & Duś
The beginning of the symphonic poem Also sprach Zarathustra illustrates the dawn of humankind in Stanley Kubrick’s film 2001: A Space Odyssey. There are paths of most diverse references stemming from this composition of Richard Strauss’, resplendent with its orchestral elan. The composer found inspiration in Friedrich Nietzsche’s mysterious book, which in turn refers to the character of a Persian prophet active so long ago that it is not certainly known when...
Asian cultures were also influential for Marta Ptaszyńska, whose work shows significant references to European paintings and sculptures as well. The composer’s name guarantees that the piece composed to be premiered by NOSPR will be colourful, approachable and enthralling. The programme will be complemented with two light compositions: Siegfried Idyll, composed by Wagner as a birthday present for his wife, and Grażyna Bacewicz’s Serenade for Orchestra, composed for the Polish Radio.
