Take 6 - NOSPR
Take 6
Their dizzying career began with the release of their self-titled album "Take 6", which sold over a million copies (and for which they received their first Grammy Award). Their subsequent march on the world's stages was one string of success: 9 more Grammy Awards, 8 Dove Awards, millions of fans worldwide. Take 6 are undoubtedly the most popular vocal group on the American continent and in a poll conducted by the most prestigious magazine, Down Beat, they have been ranked first for years as the best jazz band, ahead of The Manhattan Transfer and The New York Voices. No vocal group sings jazz with such virtuosity as they do and their vocalism is firmly rooted in tradition. They draw ideas from spirituals, soul, jazz and popular music. Incredible vocal qualities include precise intonation, freedom, virtuosity and perfection of tone. They can vocally imitate any instrument: drums, double bass, trombone, saxophone or trumpet. The outstanding qualities of these six are intonation precision, freedom, virtuosity and perfection of sound.
The band has cooperated with the most important people in the music world: they took part in recording of the legendary Quincy Jones' album "Back On The Block", productions of Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, Ella Fitzgerald, Modern Jazz Quartet, Kenny Rogers, Yellowjackets, Brandford Marsalis, Patti Austin as well as Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston. They have appeared on more than a dozen film soundtracks, including "Dick Tracy" and "Do The Right Thing" directed by Spike Lee, or "Boyz N the Hood". They have performed in the biggest American talk shows and the biggest advertising campaigns. Performing on the biggest jazz festivals and in prestigious halls and clubs around the world, they win new crowds of fans crazy about vocal excellence of these six vocalists. Their concerts are also great fun with the audience. We recommend their show and invite you to the NOSPR in Katowice.
