In 2023, Marek Pospieszalski broke the jazz bank. He was named the Musician of the Year by "Jazz Forum" magazine and released another album by his octet under the prestigious Clean Feed label. This album features original interpretations of avant-garde compositions by Polish female composers of the 20th century, from Grażyna Bacewicz to Agata Zubel. But instead of triumphantly presenting the refined material, the saxophonist is pushing forward, presenting an entirely new repertoire in Katowice. This will be performed by the battle-tested octet, a phenomenon of a band where the accumulation of talent and personalities is staggering. In 20 years, we will regard the Pospieszalski ensemble lineup as we do today with Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew" payroll. And if that wasn't enough, joining the octet is the young American saxophonist, Zoh Amba. She's not a docile girl; when she picks up the saxophone, she unleashes a free-jazzy hurricane in a split second.
